Come and Discover Fossil Rim… where you can see animals living in their near natural environment. Located just one hour and 20 minutes from Dallas/Fort Worth, the ~1700 acres of open spaces lets you interact with deer, rhinos, giraffes and other wildlife. Drive your own vehicle through the 9 1⁄2 mile tour. You will see long distance views of savannah-like pastures, forested areas and hillsides for the animals to roam.

If you are lucky, you might see the Aoudad or Sable approaching one of the many watering holes. Fossil Rim gives you nature at its best: beautiful vistas and wildlife living in the open. Join us soon for an experience you won’t forget.

Our 25th Anniversary Year

Come Celebrate with us!

Mixed Antelope Herd

On Thursday, June 21, 1984 Fossil Rim Opened its 9 ½ mile drive to the public. Our very first car brought a youngish couple with two children to view the animals and scenery. Since that day, and thanks to the many who have visited since, Fossil Rim has remained a favorite spot for introducing families to the beauty of nature and an understanding of our roll in protecting wildlife.

Our stated Mission: “Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is dedicated to conservation of species in peril, scientific research, training of professionals, responsible management of natural resources, and impactful public education. Through these activities we provide a diversity of compelling learning experiences which invoke positive change in the way people think, feel and act towards nature” explains our goal through these last 25 years.

Your support has reinforced the value of our mission. We are thankful for your many visits, purchases, donations, and volunteer hours. Without this support we would not be able to do our job of caring for so many endangered species. Please make 2009 the year you pledge to again help us attain our mission of aiding these wondrous animals in our 25th anniversary year.

Watch our website and e-newsletters to assure you are in-the-know about various celebratory activities going on throughout the year.

Help Fossil Rim Re-train the Sable Antelope
Please Do Not Give Them Feed
Sable Antelope

Sable antelope are very handsome, and we want you to enjoy them - from a distance. They can be aggressive over food, so we are asking all our guests not to feed them from your car. Don't worry - all the animals here are fed properly and regularly by our experienced Animal Care Staff, and they get plenty to eat.

Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the drive!
